As part of the celebrations of the International Day for Women in Maritime 2026, the UAE National Chapter of the Arab Women in Maritime Association (AWIMA UAE), under the leadership of Ms. Aisha Abdul Rahim, and in cooperation with the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, organized a distinguished virtual Arab workshop entitled: “Mental Health and Psychological Safety for Women Working in the Maritime Sector,” with broad participation from AWIMA members and representatives of national chapters from across the Arab world.
This important event served as a valuable awareness platform that brought together Arab women working in the maritime sector under one umbrella to strengthen dialogue, exchange experiences, and highlight the importance of mental health and professional well-being, contributing to a more supportive and sustainable working environment for women in this vital sector.
The event reflected the outstanding efforts of Ms. Aisha Abdul Rahim, President of AWIMA UAE National Chapter, whose leadership and dedicated organization of this inclusive Arab initiative further demonstrated the United Arab Emirates’ pioneering role in supporting the empowerment of Arab women in the maritime sector and advancing initiatives aimed at enhancing their professional and human development.
The workshop also represented an inspiring model of joint Arab cooperation under the umbrella of the Arab Women in Maritime Association, reinforcing the importance of unified regional action in supporting Arab women, empowering them to overcome challenges, and strengthening their active presence in shaping the future of the maritime sector, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and the International Maritime Organization’s global vision for women’s empowerment.
