The General Secretariat of the Arab Women’s Association in the Maritime Sector ”AWIMA” organized a seminar on Wednesday, corresponding to 25/11/2020, entitled “Stop Violence Against Women” via “Zoom”, in application of the rules of social distancing adopted in the framework of combating the Covid-19 pandemic

The General Secretariat of the Arab Women’s Association in the Maritime Sector ”AWIMA” organized a seminar on Wednesday, corresponding to 25/11/2020, entitled “Stop Violence Against Women” via “Zoom”, in application of the rules of social distancing adopted in the framework of combating the Covid-19 pandemic, and in parallel with the International Day to Stop Violence Against Women, corresponding to 25 November. Whereas, the importance of adhering to social distancing was indicated in the circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic.

 

The seminar was held in the presence of a group of women working in the Arab maritime sector through “Zoom”, whereas, the relevant information was shared through a valuable lecture by Professor / Zainab Bin Salem Al Abbasi, a certified trainer in NLP and Human Development, holds a Master's degree in developing and modernizing the institution, holds an accredited certificate in the field of quality, a trainer in the field of quality, and at the Office of the Merchant Marine and Ports in Tunis.

 

All relevant interventions and inquiries were answered, and heard realistic cases, which led to raising awareness and enriching the experiences of the attendees.

 

The following themes were discussed:

1.      Define violence in all its types and forms, such as (Psychological, Physical, Verbal and Economic Violence)

2.      Causes and motives of violence, social, psychological and economic security

3.      All the effects of violence on women are as follows: (Health, psychological, economic and social impacts)

4.      Method and way to prevent and reduce violence

5.      Solutions to eliminate violence against women taken by: Society in general, and by civil society in particular - By the family - By educational institutions - By the work environment - By the World Health Organization

6.      Examples of celebrities who have been exposed to violence

 

The seminar was praised by the attendees, and the Director of the General Secretariat of the Arab Women’s Association stressed the necessity of repeating such seminars, and the need to address many topics in the near future.
