The Arab Women in Maritime Association (AWIMA) Participates, Upon a Kind Invitation from Ms. Asmaa Benslimane, President of WIMA Morocco and Continental General Secretary of WIMAFRICA, in the International Forum in the Kingdom of Morocco

The Arab Women in Maritime Association (AWIMA), represented by its national branches, participated in the distinguished international forum organized by WIMA Morocco, under the umbrella of WIMAFRICA, upon a kind invitation from Ms. Asmaa Benslimane, President of WIMA Morocco and Continental General Secretary of WIMAFRICA, in partnership with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) and a number of international partners, as part of the celebrations of the International Day for Women in Maritime 2026.
This high-level international event was held in the Kingdom of Morocco under the theme:
“From Policy to Practice: Powering Maritime Excellence”
“The Blue Economy Needs Her: Digitalization, Innovation and Women’s Leadership”
The forum witnessed active and distinguished participation from the national branches of the Arab Women in Maritime Association through Zoom, reflecting the strength of Arab institutional presence and AWIMA’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with regional and international initiatives aimed at empowering women in the maritime sector.
This participation comes within AWIMA’s ongoing commitment to expanding knowledge horizons, enhancing professional empowerment, and supporting Arab women’s presence across international and regional platforms, in alignment with the vision of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the global strategy of Women in Maritime Associations.
The forum addressed a range of strategic topics related to artificial intelligence, digital transformation, the blue economy, women’s leadership, and innovation, providing a valuable platform for exchanging expertise and building new bridges of cooperation among women working in the maritime sector at both regional and international levels.
The General Secretariat of AWIMA affirms that this participation represents a continued extension of its institutional mission to strengthen the role of Arab women and reinforce their presence in pathways of maritime development and decision-making.
