Prominent UAE Participation in the International Day for Women in Maritime in London

The city of London witnessed a distinguished UAE participation in the International Day for Women in Maritime, organized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), with the attendance of leading female maritime professionals and global decision-makers.
The UAE delegation was led by H.E. Eng. Hessa Ahmed Hamdan Al Malek, Advisor to the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure for Maritime Transport Affairs, who emphasized the growing and vital role of women in the maritime transport sector.
She highlighted the importance of empowering women and strengthening their participation across all areas of the maritime industry, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals and the UAE’s vision for gender equality.
She also noted that Emirati women have demonstrated excellence and leadership across technical and administrative fields, playing a key role in advancing the country’s maritime development and reinforcing its position as a global hub for maritime transport and services, in line with the “We the UAE 2031” vision.
The event also featured the recognition of winners of the second edition of the Women in Maritime Award, an initiative proposed by the UAE in 2022 and adopted by the IMO to highlight the achievements of women in the maritime sector.
