Ms. Marwa Hafez, President of the Egyptian National Chapter of the Arab Women in Maritime Association (AWIMA), participated today, Saturday, in the activities of the closing conference of the “TASHREE” Project, which was hosted at the San Stefano Hall, Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria.
The conference was held under the patronage of Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), in collaboration with Coventry University, UK, and the British Council, and was attended by Dr. Rasha Abdel Aziz, the project’s Principal Investigator, along with a distinguished group of public figures and academics.
The “TASHREE” Project aims to develop and strengthen higher education legislation to ensure fair and effective representation of women in executive and leadership positions, marking a strategic step toward achieving equal opportunities within Egypt’s academic sector.
In her speech during the conference, Marwa Hafez emphasized that advancing women in leadership positions is not merely a social issue, but a fundamental pillar for the progress and sustainability of educational institutions. She praised the “TASHREE” Project for establishing a legal roadmap that supports Egyptian women academics and opens new horizons for leadership empowerment.
The conference featured a presentation of the project’s key outcomes and recommendations, which focus on enhancing legal frameworks and internal university policies to ensure genuine and sustainable empowerment of women, in alignment with Egypt Vision 2030.
The event concluded with a strong emphasis on the importance of transforming these recommendations into tangible action that supports the professional advancement of Egyptian women and places them at the forefront of academic leadership.
