Notable Moroccan Female Presence at IMO Assembly Proceedings
Monday, 24 November 2025
During the Assembly proceedings of the International Maritime Organization held from 24 November to 4 December 2025, Moroccan women demonstrated a notable and growing presence, reflecting the increasing role of women in the global maritime sector.
Among the participants was Ms. Aman Fathallah, President of the Moroccan National Chapter of the Arab Women in Maritime Association (AWIMA Morocco), who contributed to discussions on women’s empowerment and expanding their participation in maritime fields.
This growing representation highlights the rising recognition of women’s contributions to maritime governance, policy dialogue, and the future direction of the industry, in line with global efforts to promote gender equality.
It also aligns with the IMO’s ongoing initiatives to enhance inclusivity and strengthen women’s participation across all levels of the maritime sector as a key driver of sustainable development.
This engagement underscores the increasing influence of Arab women—particularly Moroccan women—in the international maritime arena and their role in shaping a more inclusive and sustainable future for the industry.
