Establishment of AWIMA Morocco National Chapter “AWIMA MOROCCO”

In line with the recommendations of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the founding general assembly of the “Women of Morocco in the Maritime and Port Sector” Association was held on Thursday, 25 September 2025, in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco, establishing it as the Moroccan National Chapter of the Arab Women in Maritime Association (AWIMA Morocco).
This initiative represents a strategic step toward strengthening the presence and impact of Moroccan women in the maritime and port sectors and enhancing their active participation across the industry.
The association aims to:
- • Build professional networks and promote knowledge exchange,
- • Raise awareness on gender equality within the maritime sector,
- • Encourage women to take on leadership roles and participate in decision-making,
- • Support the professional and economic empowerment of women in maritime fields.
During the assembly, Ms. Aman Fathallah was elected as President of the association, in recognition of her distinguished career and expertise, positioning her to lead this new entity toward achieving its objectives.
The establishment of AWIMA Morocco marks an important addition to the regional network of AWIMA, strengthening cooperation and advancing women’s empowerment across the maritime sector in the Arab region.
