A member of the Lebanese National Chapter of the Arab Women in Maritime Association (AWIMA Lebanon) participated in an international training programme on Seafarers’ Assessment, Examination, and Certification, held at the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) in Lisbon, Portugal, from 1 October to 14 November 2025.
The programme aimed to enhance understanding of the seafarers’ assessment and certification system in line with the STCW Convention, through a structured training approach combining theoretical modules with practical applications and continuous evaluation.
This experience contributed to strengthening knowledge of international procedures and standards, particularly in areas related to quality assurance, accreditation, and maritime certification systems, supporting improvements in maritime governance and training frameworks.
The participation also represents an important step in transferring international expertise to the national level, contributing to the enhancement of assessment and auditing systems in line with global best practices.
This engagement reflects AWIMA Lebanon’s commitment to developing women’s capacities and strengthening their role in specialized and technical fields within the maritime sector.
