AWIMA Lebanon Member Participates as Lecturer in Training on Maritime Catering Standards

A member of the Lebanese National Chapter of the Arab Women in Maritime Association (AWIMA Lebanon) participated as a lecturer in a specialized training course on maritime catering and nutrition standards, in accordance with Regulation 3.2 of the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC 2006), held at the International Maritime Academy (IMA) in Beirut during from 6-13 October 2025.
The training aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of MLC requirements, particularly regarding nutrition standards and living conditions onboard ships, through a structured approach combining theoretical and practical elements.
Key topics included responsibilities of maritime cooks, onboard kitchen management, and the role of competent authorities in monitoring and enforcement, contributing to improved compliance with international standards.
Interactive sessions and case studies helped raise awareness of regulatory requirements, supervisory standards, and responsibility distribution, while also strengthening participants’ decision-making skills in real-life maritime scenarios.
The course also prepared participants to effectively implement upcoming amendments to the MLC, contributing to improved workforce performance and enhanced quality of life at sea.
