AWIMA Jordan National Chapter Participates in Maritime Day Celebration in Aqaba

The Jordan National Chapter of the Arab Women in Maritime Association (AWIMA Jordan) participated in the Maritime Day celebration held in Aqaba on 17 July 2025, as part of its commitment to strengthening women’s presence and contribution to the maritime sector.
The event served as an important platform to review the current status of the maritime sector in Jordan and define its future priorities, while highlighting its vital role in supporting the national economy, with over 90% of global trade transported by sea.
Discussions during the event focused on key challenges and opportunities facing maritime navigation, as well as the development of maritime policies and regulations in line with global trends.
The celebration also emphasized the importance of enhancing maritime education and training, ensuring the qualification of Jordanian professionals and strengthening workforce capabilities.
AWIMA Jordan’s participation reaffirmed the importance of empowering women in the maritime sector, while supporting the strategic role of Aqaba Port as a key regional hub for maritime transport and logistics.
