AWIMA Egypt President Chairs Workshop on Yacht Tourism and Shipbuilding Localization at TransMEA 2025

As part of TransMEA 2025, held in Cairo from 9 to 11 November 2025, a specialized workshop titled:
“Enhancing Yacht Tourism and Localizing Shipbuilding” was organized, with the participation of senior maritime transport leaders, as well as key stakeholders, experts, and investors from the tourism and industrial sectors.
The workshop was chaired by Ms. Marwa Hafez, President of the Egyptian National Chapter of the Arab Women in Maritime Association (AWIMA Egypt), where insightful discussions took place on advancing the maritime sector and strengthening its contribution to the national economy.
The session aimed to enhance the role of yacht tourism as a driver of economic growth, while exploring strategies to support shipbuilding localization, and develop marinas and the necessary infrastructure for this vital sector.
It also reviewed the current status of yacht tourism in the region, the opportunities for improving maritime services, and the key challenges facing shipbuilding localization, including technical capacity development, strengthening local supply chains, and attracting quality investments.
Participants emphasized the importance of collaboration between government entities and the private sector to achieve a significant transformation in maritime transport and position Egypt as a leading regional hub for maritime tourism and shipbuilding industries.
