The Algerian National Chapter of the Arab Women in Maritime Association (AWIMA Algeria) followed the 50th graduation ceremony of the National Higher Maritime School (ENSM) in Bou Ismail, held on Tuesday, 8 June 2025, with high-level official attendance.

The ceremony was presided over by H.E. Mr. Saïd Saïoud, Minister of Transport, who reaffirmed his strong support for maritime education and the development of national maritime competencies in Algeria.

A total of 71 graduates received Master’s degrees and State Engineer diplomas in maritime navigation and marine engineering, including six female graduates, reflecting the growing participation of women in the maritime sector.

In addition, during the same year, two female Second Engineer Officers graduated from ETFIM Mostaganem, marking a significant step in strengthening women’s representation in marine engineering professions.

Furthermore, 20 women were awarded coastal navigation pleasure craft licenses for sailing beyond 5 nautical miles, further supporting women’s empowerment and participation in maritime activities.
These developments highlight the increasing role of Algerian women in the maritime sector, supported by educational institutions and closely followed by AWIMA Algeria to enhance women’s representation across maritime disciplines.
