Ms. Asmaa Benslimane, a member of the Moroccan National Chapter of the Arab Women in Maritime Association (AWIMA Morocco), participated in the 3rd edition of the Blue Africa Summit 2025 held in Tangier, demonstrating the growing role of Arab women in maritime affairs and the blue economy.
Benslimane highlighted that the summit provided an important platform for African civil society to actively contribute to drafting the Pact for a Sustainable Blue Africa, emphasizing that the future of the continent is closely linked to the health of its seas and coasts.
She noted that the African ocean is not only a source of life and employment, but also a cornerstone of identity, food security, and economic sovereignty, requiring continuous and collective efforts to protect this shared heritage.
She further stressed the critical role of civil society actors — including associations, NGOs, youth leaders, women in maritime, researchers, and blue economy entrepreneurs — in transforming commitments into concrete actions toward sustainable maritime development.
This participation reflects the increasing presence of AWIMA members in international platforms and their active contribution to advancing sustainability and the blue economy at both regional and global levels.
