Biography

 Ms. Myriam Sleiman holds the master degree in English literature from the Lebanese University.

She began her career in the maritime field in the year 2010 at the directorate general of land and maritime transport.

She carried out her duties with effectiveness and efficiency to assure the position of Saida harbor master in the year 2014, being the first ever women to occupy this position in the Lebanese maritime field.

Through her current position she is responsible for enforcing the maritime regulations in the respective geographic area. Her duties include the registry of all types of vessels including yachts and boats after inspection to insure compliance with legislation pertaining to safety of navigation and marine environment.

In addition, she conducts the general day to day process of vessel movements and navigation such as issuing permits for vessels to enter the port, berth and depart to another port. 

Also, she monitors the loading and unloading operations and ensure the safety in port facilities. 

In October 2017, Ms. Myriam Sleiman was chosen by the directorate to participate in the Conference for Arab women in the maritime sector, hosted by the Arab Academy for Science and Technology and Maritime Transport held in Alexandria/Egypt.

The conference lead to the launch of the Arabic Women in Maritime Association, a forum where leading successful  ladies from nine Arab countries gather to encourage and empower the Arab woman by improving her  professional skills and highlighting her effective role in the maritime sector.
